How is the weekend going for all of you? Mine is going at a lightening speed already and I thought it has just started! Anyway, I had recently reviewed a book called The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. Read the review here. Like I have mentioned in the review, its not a classic love story. But it does manage to surprise you and keep you engaged. Almost every conversation in this book can be “quoted”. I’m sure quotes from The Wedding are surely going to make you think about reading the book.
Quotes from The Wedding
[Disclaimer: This is not for the faint-hearted! Do keep some tissues handy, just in case]
“What I’m trying to say is that you are there, in everything I am … in everything I’ve ever done … and looking back, I know that I should have told you how much you’ve always meant to me.”
“It was one thing to divide the major assets, but how was it possible to divide the heart?”
“What are we, after all, without our memories … without our dreams?”
“Yes, I decided, a man can truly change. The events of the past year have taught me much about myself, and a few universal truths. I learned, for instance, that while wounds can be inflicted easily upon those we love, it’s often much more difficult to heal them. Yet the process of healing those wounds provided the richest experience of my life, leading me to believe that while I’ve often overestimated what I could accomplish in a day, I had underestimated what I could do in a year. But most of all, I learned that it’s possible for two people to fall in love all over again, even when there’s been a lifetime of disappointment between them.”
“But love, I’ve come to understand, is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.”
“Every time I read to her, it was like I was courting her, because sometimes, just sometimes, she would fall in love with me again, just like she had a long time ago. And that’s the most wonderful feeling in the world. How many people are ever given that chance? To have someone you love fall in love with you over and over?”
“It’s funny, but have you ever noticed that the more special something is, the more people seem to take it for granted? It’s like they think it won’t ever change. Just like this house here. All it ever needed was a little attention, and it would never have ended up like this in the first place.”
“Experience had taught me that even the most precious memories fade with the passage of time.”
“What it’s like to be a parent: It’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do but in exchange it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love.”
“My first thoughts after waking are – and always have been – of you.”
Beautiful! That’s the beauty of Nicholas’ writing. He uses day-to-day language, simple, yet it’s so many times more effective and definitely manages to touch your heart! You can buy the book from here..
Have you read the book yet? If yes, how has it fared for you? Which were the quotes from The Wedding that you liked?
Happy weekend you all!
