Hello fellow dear readers!
How have you all been? Today’s post is a review of Kindle Paperwhite. I had been secretly contemplating on buying one when I got it as a gift from my best friend! He knows I’m an avid reader. What could be more thoughtful than this? Needless to say, I LOVED IT!
I downloaded and bought a lot of books on Day-1 itself. Since then, me and my Kindle are literally inseparable. Read-on to know more about how it has fared till now (It’s been almost 6 months since I’m using it).

My experience with Kindle Paperwhite
I have been using it for over 6 months and have hardly charged it more than 5 times. The display is crisp with varied options for lighting that could be set by the user depending on the room/outdoor lighting. With a clear resolution it really does read like a paper and the best part is, I can read at night as well, without the need to keep the lights on. There is no glare, even with the built-in light. It’s soft on eyes and highly comfortable to read for hours together. Although, the page does flicker/lag a bit when moving from one page to another. But it doesn’t bother me anymore.
Kindle supports various file formats from PDF, MOBI to DOC including amazon’s native format AZW (Note: epub files are not supported in Kindle). It fits properly in one hand. I take it in my backpack/purse/sling bags whenever I travel and hence true to its claims of being extremely portable. With so many pros and a barely-there con, I highly recommend this to any avid reader!
Kindle Paperwhite Battery life
True to its claims, single charge on Kindle Paperwhite lasts weeks. It lasted upto 6 weeks in my case with on and off usage (Approx. 4 days a week). You never have to bother about taking the charger if you are traveling for a couple of weeks.
Tip: If you are not using wireless connectivity option, keep the kindle in airplane mode. This way, the charge lasts longer as the device won’t be searching for wifi spots or 3G signals all the time (This holds good for any device).
Amazon Kindle Store
The Kindle Store offers millions of books to choose with over 30,000 titles offered for free. You could download the samples for free before buying. There is an option to go for Kindle Unlimited as well. This is a paid service with monthly subscriptions which gives you unlimited access to over a million titles. I’m planning to opt for it for a couple of months, I would update my Kindle Unlimited experience in another post.
Kindle Paperwhite Accessories
You could buy amazon kindle accessories ranging from leather covers to accelerated chargers. I strongly recommend buying a cover to protect the screen as we tend to carry Kindle in our bags/purses. I already have a scratch at the back of my Kindle (thankfully not on the screen).
The WiFi model comes at a price of INR 10,999 and 3G + WiFi at INR 11,999. The WiFi version is available for a discounted price of INR 8,999 and you can buy it from here.
