Hello Everyone,

Been reading any books? How is your week going? Today I would like to review what has become one of my favorite books of all time, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, the queen of crime/mystery/thriller genre.

Name of the book: And Then There Were None By Agatha Christie

What is And Then There Were None about?

And Then There Were None is widely regarded as Agatha Christie’s masterpiece and in her own words, was the most difficult book to write! The plot of And Then There Were None is based on a rhyme on ten people who die one after the other. The below is the 1945 version of the same rhyme, based on which And Then There Were None was written by Agatha Chrsitie.

Ten little Indian boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little Indian boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.
Eight little Indian boys travelling in Devon;
One said he’d stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in half and then there were six.
Six little Indian boys playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one of them and then there were five.
Five little Indian boys going in for law;
One got in Chancery and then there were four.
Four little Indian boys going out to sea;
A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.
Three little Indian boys walking in the zoo;
A big bear hugged one and then there were two.
Two little Indian boys playing in the sun;
One got all frizzled up and then there was one.
One little Indian boy left all alone;
He went out and hanged himself and then there were none.

Once you read the book, you will agree with me that it is one of the most brilliant plots of all times.

What did I enjoy in And Then There Were None?

The narrative, the plot, the twists and the ending, I can go on and on. If it wasn’t for the post-script which reveals everything, I would have still been scratching my head thinking who the killer is! Agatha weaves the story like its happening right in front of you. An author’s way of writing is a heavy influence on the reader’s imagination. And this book and Agatha’s writing just nails it right. This is one of her best books ever, and one of my favorite books ever.

What did I not like in And Then There Were None?

Nope, not a thing. I can’t think of a thing. This book is aptly sized too, approx 250+ pages, you can finish in a few days. Not too big, not too small.
